Pre-run checklist
- Confirm pen space exists — no point stealing if you cannot place (Hatch Animals).
- Equip your best trail for the biome (Trails Tier List).
- Glance at lava state; do not exit during an already punishing rise if the path is flooded.
- Pick a target biome you clear at least half the time.
- Clear chat distractions; audio cues matter.
Grab technique
- Approach the egg from the side that keeps your escape path open
- Trigger the grab promptly; hovering invites contest stealers in 7-player servers
- After the egg is in hand, do not sightseeing — every second is lava budget
- If two players collide on one egg, disengage early and rotate to another nest instead of soft-locking both of you

Return technique
Returning is harder than grabbing.
- Pre-plan the path before you touch the egg
- Prefer high ground and known shortcuts from Survive Lava
- Drop a failed run if lava already cuts the only bridge — a death with an egg wastes more than walking home empty
- On contested paths, take wider lines even if slightly longer, to avoid player collision stalls

Grass
Learn prompts and lava rhythm. Take almost any egg. Build confidence for Desert.
Desert
First power spike. Bring extra treadmill Speed. One egg per run until returns are crisp.

Underwater
Vertical mistakes are common. If your trail or Speed feels marginal, farm Beach funding instead of tilting.
Arctic
Chokepoints punish late grabs. Leave earlier in the lava cycle than you did in Desert.
Jungle
Dense sightlines and more player traffic. Rotate nests; do not tunnel on one spawn.
Ancient
Premium risk. Only run with spare Speed, a strong trail, and empty-enough pen slots for the hatch payoff (Animals Tier List).
Mythical
Ceiling attempts. Treat each run as expensive. Warm up on Ancient the same session.

Contested server tactics
Max player count is low, so every lobby feels personal.
- Arrive early in a fresh server when possible
- If a faster player farms your biome, shift one tier down or up rather than griefing
- Never stand AFK on an egg spawn “reserving” it — others will take it, and lava will punish you
Greed rules that save accounts
- One S-tier egg in the pen beats three C-tier eggs lost to lava
- After two deaths in a row, mandatory treadmill minute before retrying
- Stop stealing when pen is full until you sell weak animals or buy capacity (Upgrades)
- Log off after banking a great hatch so offline earnings start immediately
Solo practice drills
When a biome feels unfair, run empty-handed drills: leave the plot, touch the egg spawn area, and return without grabbing. Time how much lava budget remains. Then add the grab on the next attempt. This separates path skill from inventory panic and makes Ancient prep much cheaper.
If drills succeed but egg-in-hand runs fail, you are hesitating after the grab. Pre-turn your camera toward the exit before you commit.
